Automated Sprint Completion Summary

Sprint completion reporting required manually retrieving delivery metrics from Jira and communicating results to the team, creating repetitive effort and inconsistent reporting.

When a sprint completes, Jira Automation collects metrics, builds a JSON payload, and sends it via webhook to Power Automate — which formats and publishes the summary to Microsoft Teams.

Multi-Squad Dynamic Channel Routing

Multiple squads needed automation notifications delivered to their own Teams channels. Maintaining a separate flow per squad created duplication and growing maintenance overhead.

One shared Jira-to-Power-Automate integration uses Switch/Condition routing logic to identify the squad from the payload and dynamically deliver the notification to the correct Teams channel.

Ready-for-Rollout Notification

When work became ready for rollout, relevant people needed timely visibility without relying entirely on manual messages or checking Jira.

When a Jira issue transitions to "Ready for Rollout", Jira Automation sends a webhook to Power Automate, which formats and delivers a structured Teams notification with key issue details.

New Bug Alert Automation

Newly reported bugs had no automatic visibility. Teams depended on someone manually posting to a channel, meaning defects could sit unnoticed until the next standup or check-in.

When a Bug is created in Jira, Jira Automation validates the issue type, extracts key bug details, and sends a structured JSON payload via webhook to Power Automate, which formats and delivers an alert to Microsoft Teams.

Dynamic Microsoft Teams Adaptive Cards

Plain text automation notifications are difficult to scan and provide limited structure for operational information delivered to Microsoft Teams.

Power Automate receives a JSON payload from Jira via webhook, maps dynamic values, and constructs a structured Adaptive Card posted to Microsoft Teams — transforming raw data into a readable, actionable notification.

Jira to Power Automate Webhook Integration

A technical deep-dive into the reusable integration pattern that underpins all Flow Craft automations — how Jira Automation triggers external workflows by sending structured data through a webhook.

Understanding this pattern enables any team to build reliable, scalable Jira-triggered automations without duplicating infrastructure — one architecture, many downstream actions.

Automated Team Leave Planner

Collecting team leave plans through repeated manual messages makes coordination cumbersome and responses difficult to consolidate.

A scheduled Slack Workflow Builder automation asks team members for their leave information on a recurring basis and captures structured responses in a shared location for team visibility.

Automated Sprint Review Reporting

Sprint Review preparation can require gathering delivery information from multiple Jira issues and manually organising statistics and completed work — creating overhead before every review.

Use Jira data and automation to collect relevant sprint information, aggregate delivery metrics, and present them in a structured Sprint Review report for stakeholder visibility.

The Applied AI

AI-01 Use Case
LLMs Jira

AI-Powered Sprint Insights from Jira

Extracting meaningful narrative insights from raw sprint data is time-consuming and often misses subtle delivery patterns.

Using AI to analyse structured Jira data exports, identify trends, and generate plain-language summaries of sprint health to support Scrum Masters and Delivery Leads.

AI-02 Implementation
LLMs Jira

AI-Enabled Sprint Review & Retrospective Insights

Sprint reviews and retrospectives can lack data-backed focus, leading to repetitive discussions and missed systemic issues.

Applying AI to summarise sprint achievements, surface qualitative themes from retro boards, and suggest data-informed continuous improvement actions.

AI-03 Experiment
LLMs

AI-Assisted Service Health Monitoring

Operations teams face alert fatigue and struggle to quickly correlate complex system events during major incidents.

Experimenting with AI to parse operational logs, identify root-cause patterns, and draft preliminary incident summaries for human review.

AI-04 Pattern
LLMs Kiro

AI-Assisted Automation Development

Developing complex JSON payloads and API integrations manually slows down the creation of new automation workflows.

Utilising AI tools like Amazon Q (Kiro) to rapidly prototype JSON schemas, write boilerplate code, and troubleshoot integration errors during workflow development.

AI-05 Framework
AI Agents MCP APIs

AI Agents + MCP Tool Connectivity

Stand-alone LLMs lack context regarding internal tools and real-time project states, limiting their effectiveness in delivery environments.

Designing frameworks to connect AI agents with workplace systems via Model Context Protocol (MCP) and APIs, extending their reasoning to actual project data.

AI-06 Framework
LLMs

AI in the SDLC — Human + AI Control Model

Unregulated AI use in software development risks introducing quality issues and compliance breaches without proper oversight.

Defining a control framework that safely integrates AI at key SDLC stages, ensuring AI augments creation while humans remain accountable for review and approval.
